Sperling’s BestPlaces: Ranking and Rating the U.S. One City at a Time

Loading ...Where do you live? Is it the best place in the country? Do you even know?
Maybe you woke up this morning in your Flint, Michigan bed and though “*yawn* it doesn’t get any better than this!”
But then you feel small, insignificant. Sure, you made that decision, and you decided that Flint, Michigan is the best place in the U.S. to live, but did anyone really listen? Bert is the guy who has that power. He’s the guy that Picks the Best Places to Live, and lots of important people actually listen.
Here is how I imagine a day in the life of Bert Sperling:
12:00am: Bert wakes up from a power nap. He won’t need to sleep again for 300-400 more days.
1:00am: Bert eats breakfast. It is steak and eggs. He wrestled an angry bull to the ground and prepared it the day before.
4:00am: Bert watches recordings of all the television shows he’s been on. He has to play them on 10x speed.
6:00am: McDonalds calls him, and begs him to do a study for them on the Happiest Places in the U.S. for their Happy meal anniversary. Bert tells them to send Ronald over so they can talk about it.
9:00am: Ronald arrives, bearing gifts of golden golden fries. Bert agrees “Okay, fine, I’ll do it this time. But the King has been bugging me lately to run a study on the ‘Creepiest Places in the U.S.’ That dude is weird.” “Word son,” replies Ronald, giving Bert a fist bump.
10:00am: Bert sits down at his desk and noodles on the next best place to live.
11:00am: The world rejoices!
2:00pm: Bert turns on the television and Oprah watches him.
